Hi Squashers
A super turnout this was, and I must say am very gratefull to the squash fraternity that has helped support squash by just participating in the Kenya Closed tournament. For those who could not make it coz of injuries,(Confidence Injuries or Physical injuries), get well soon.
There has proved to be a big interest in the game, evidenced by the large entry in Group C. New faces from both ladies and Men were eager to have a go at the tournament, not forgetting the juniors. some of the new faces include Martin kiptoo, Spencer, Moiz Rasheed, James Ngugi amongs others. Well, am happy for them and will do my best to support them develop their skill in their game.
The first day saw straight sets in most games but we look forward to a tougher second day with players like Asif Chaudry, in Group B, a former Squash Slayer/Champion in the Late 70s and early 80s, the new boys in the block- The Atonyas and the Quick feet of Muqtadir among others. Am looking forward to very entertaining matches on the second day.
Plate draws will be made on the second day as we prepare for a competitive A group, (that saw a disappointing turnout) begin on wednesday. Group A has the new entrant into the scene Ken Mwangi, stretch specialist John Mbuvi, (Jahangir 2) Kuntesh Shah, Muqtadir and leon amongst others.
We look forward to a good spectator turnout for the rest of the days. Drinks and snacks will also be available at competitive prices so dont miss the mouth watering delicacies Parklands sports club has to offer.
Attached find the draw for reference. Games start at 5.30pm so Lets be there early and finish intime.
